Making a Difference
Thank you for your interest in Chesapeake Service Systems.
We are a private non-profit organization originally formed in January 1985 by the Chesapeake Community Services Board to provide vocational rehabilitation services and opportunities to people with developmental disabilities.
Ways to Help
There are many ways to help people with developmental disabilities. If you have an interest in any ot the following please call Tom Swanston at 757-312-0456:
-Call your representatives federal and state legislature and ask them to support programs for people with disabilities.
-Make a donation-CSS is always looking to expand and your donation helps us do so. In Hampton Roads the demand for service always out weighs the supply.
-Serve as a Board Member
-Give to the United Way (CSS designation 5043)
-Choose Cox Communications as your provider for internet, cable and other services as they are the largest provider of work to people with disabiltiies in Hampton Roads.
-Realize and spread the word that although people with developmental disabilities have many challenges, they also have a plethora of talents and abilities.
-Eliminate the R-word (retard) from your vocabulary and encourage others to do the same.
-Realize that it is only a successful society if their are no unforgotten people (Franklin D. Roosevelt)
